Missing Abby

Abby as ring bearer at our wedding in April 2000

MISSING ABBY

She filled our hearts
with sweet brown eyes.
Her soft head
white as a dove
a comfort to touch.

Her absence fills these
melancholy walls
like the stillness
of a black night
without stars.

We can not see her
face yet, in the birds
or the clouds
in our blue river of tears.

It is too soon
to think of her gone.
At least we know
her tender soul
and brave spirit...

...have heaven singing.

-Linda O'Neill

Thank you all so much for your support and kind words these past few days. You have helped us more than you know. xoxo

What a beautiful poem Linda. And I just love the picture. We have one of Dallas from our wedding too! He had a black bow tie on! I've have to find a picture and email it to you! With much love from your Windy City Gang!

Very nice poem! This photo is really wonderful. What stunning girls! Start a new journal .. keep writing, it will help you. We had a memorial party a couple of weeks after our Atticus passed and asked his human and doggy pals to come. Everyone had a story to tell about him ... Some of our pals had doggies that we had known that passed before Atti and we all talked of those pups too ... it was a nice gathering. I made an idvd slideshow that played on the small kitchen TV. So when folks went inside for beverages they could watch his photos playing. You will find a multitude of ways to honar your girl and process your grief, do not hesitate to do any of the things you need to do.
