My Two Dog Babies

"Maisie doll sitting on the mantle"

Is it Monday already? Well, I guess I didn't post on Friday like I said I would. Maisie is keeping things pretty interesting around here so everything else is taking a back seat. She's doing ok although is VERY frustrated. We're having to resort to some sedatives at times to keep her calm and unable to hurt her little paw boo boo even more. I think her Mama needs some sedatives!!

Anyway, before I let any more time go by...I wanted to share with you two very special gifts I received for Christmas. The first one is from my friend, Shennon (Hi Shens!)...who made this adorable doll of Maisie. It was inspired by the work of Claudine Hellmuth. The little sign Maisie is holding is a quote by Will Rogers and it says, "Go out on a limb; that's where the fruit is". I love it!

The digital painting below...I had commissioned for James this Christmas of our beloved girl dog, Abby who passed away last March. I have always admired the very talented work of Rebecca Collins at Art Paw so I commissioned her to paint Abby. What can I say but we were thrilled with it...it is just an absolutely gorgeous painting. Both James and I consider it to be a very special gift from a most wonderful Artist friend. You can read about it a little more here on Rebecca's blog.

"Abby Louise"
16" x 20" Giclee on Canvas

Hoping to get some work done between "Maisie time" here this week. Wish me luck!...and think good thoughts for Maisie, ok?...her little puppy heart is kinda sad right now.

Shennon did a stunning job capturing Miss Maisie! So whimsical and fun. And oh my gosh, that painting of Abby is just breath-taking! I'm sure it warms your heart every time you see it!! Hugs, Shari

Hi Linda!
I have been thinking of you guys all weekend. What color cast did Miss Maisie choose this week? We are all sending her lots of love, and Emmitt is sending extra pug hugs and kisses.

Thanks for the kind words Linda! Hugs to that Maisie girl. Hey have you ever tried "Story Time"? Our dogs loved it when we were reading the Harry Potter books out loud at night. Start some new routines to replace the play routines from before. Reading aloud at night is good for you both ... the lighter the story the better, and if you or James can do funny voices then it is even more fun.

Lots of love from our house to yours! It's tough being down for the count, but tell Maise that we're thinking about her! LOVE, the portrait of Abby... really such an amazing talent!

Wow -- Rebacca did an AMAZING job on your sweet girl! I absolutely LOVE the blue highlights and blue background.
Poor Maisie -- I'm sure she just wants to be outside playing in the snow. My Bear would drive me crazy if he was confined to the house and couldn't run around and play. Hope Miss Maisie is on the mend soon!

Pono wanted me to send Maisie some nice licks for her hurt foot. It was too much to explain to him that it might be hard for those licks to reach the foot thru a cast! Love the dog art!

Wow! Love the artwork! I love the first one, dressed up in dog clothes? Or, are those human clothes? LOL...Awesome job!

Poor Maisie and Poor Maisie's Mom! I hope the time goes by as peacefully as possible. Lots of puzzle toys and trick learning can tire a dog without much physical effort????
all the best-

Oh my gosh Linda. You inspire me.

You are so strong dealing first with Abby's passing, and then all of the challenges with Maisie.

I wanted to tell you that you inspire me to be both a strong woman and a kinder person.

Now, I know we all have our faults, but Maisie is such a lucky girl to have you as her mommy. Although you probably don't feel the same in return right now, lol!

But think of all of the summertime play sessions you'll have together. So much fun to be had in the future.

And Rebecca's portrait of Abby is just gorgeous. I also left a comment on it on the Artpaw blog. One of these days I'll have to have her do Fergie.

BTW: my good friend Bill is moving to Denver- driving down from Seattle as we speak! Now I have even more reason to come and visit!!

The painting of Abby is wonderful. She looks so happy - a great way to remember her.

Oh Lytton is feeling most sad for Maisie and wishes that he could spend time with her. Dog casts are no fun - he says.

We both love Maisie's portrait - Lytton thinks Maisie looks better in shoes than a cast. But then, he figured it was pretty amazing that her cast matched her scarf.

Big hugs for you all,
Kate ox
