Been a little absent "minded"

As I was trying to organize my "out of control" office this afternoon...I came across this little collage self-portrait I did when I was probably about 8 years old. See...even then...I think I envisioned myself as a dog!

On another note...I'm sorry I've been sort of an absent blogger/commenter lately. A very dear friend of ours is battling renal cancer and ended up in the hospital again last weekend. They found that two tumors had spread to his brain so they had to remove one and perform radiation to shrink the other one. Between visits to the hospital and caring for Miss Maisie...our world has been a little upside down. If you can muster up some heavy duty prayers and send them to Steve and Kathleen...I would be forever grateful. We love them so much.

Back again hopefully soon...with some new art. Let's get the good juju going again! xoxo

I love the self portrait. "...envisioned myself as a dog." LOL... that is adorable. Here are some power prayers coming from the desert. Be kind to yourself now.

Your self portrait is so sweet. It's fun to look back at things we made as children.
I'm sending out prayers and positive energy to both you and your friends. Keep the faith.

Sorry you guys are having a tough time, best wishes to Steve & Kathleen. Your childhood portrait is great. What is the stem thingy on the hat ...a whirly propeller or bow? You had a great sense of composition at such a young age ... look at that negative space!

L, am so sorry to hear about your friend. I can relate as one of my best friends is battling brain cancer and has been through two surgeries. I will light a candle and offer up prayers for him, his family and friends. Hoping Maisie is on her road to recovery.

Many good thoughts that prayers coming Steve and Kathleen's way from here in Chicago... God has clearly put one of his best angels (YOU!) to help care for your friend(s).

Love the self portrait -- and am especially fond of the propeller on the top of your hat!... And the rouge technique -- quite something! :-)

Keep your spirits up -- we're all thinking about you and wishing you, Maise and your wonderful friends every good thing the world has to offer.

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I know several people that are battling cancer right now. Both are young and have kids still at home. One has melanoma that has spread to her brain and the other has tonsil cancer. Sometimes, I just don't get this broken world.

On a lighter note: I love that collage. How funny and ironic that even at 8 years old, you gave yourself dog ears!!

Take care of Maisie:
