James and I believe that Abby had a rather big paw in sending Maisie to us. Abby never liked other dogs or many people so she sent us a dog that does. With her usual sense of humor, she also sent us a dog that does things she DIDN'T do. Abby never chewed on anything, hardly barked and never got up on the furniture. Maisie does all three with guiltless abandon. I think most of all...Abby sent us another dog to ease our pain and bring a smile to our faces again. That's what she did every day we had her too.
Thanks for bringing Maisie to us Abby, but know that you will never be forgotten. Your papa and I will always miss you and love you. Happy Easter, sweet girl.
It's Been A Year And I Still Miss Her
The missing just goes on and on,
From sunrise, then she sets;
An image branded on my brain,
The greatest, no regrets.
I celebrate the joys we had,
That I have known real love;
Oh yes, I loved, and yes I gained
Vital lessons for my life.

I can barely type through the tears... What a sweet, sweet girl Abby was (is!)... as I do believe that our cherished canine companions do live forever in our hearts and in heaven. She's a beautiful girl, and clearly so very well loved. I think that I can perhaps begin to imagine how much you must miss her...
Happy Easter to you, your husband, and to sweet Maise... you're such an inspiration!
Hi Linda!
I feel like I knew Abby through you. She was a very special girl.
I love the picture of you and Maisie. Give her a huge hug for me! What a fun spirit she is. She makes me smile everytime I see her.
Happy Easter to all of you!

Linda - you got me crying too thinking about your pain and loss. I so admire your fearlessness about bringing another dog into your life -- that even through the loss of your beloved Abby, you still know that loving a dog is worth the heartache. That's an amazing way to live your life, and I think you're right, Abby was probably the one who taught you how to be that fearless and open. What an amazing dog, and friend you had in her.
Happy Easter to you, James, and of course Miss Maisie.
They do seem to take care of us even after they have passed over. And I have many many paws watching over me.
'Batman Chickens'...what a laugh I got out of that one....it made my day.
Linda,
I know exactly how you feel. We lost two dogs last year and some days I still cry. Like you our dogs brought Otis to us. Sounds like Abby was a great friend.
Happy Easter
Can it be so long already? Each one is different and makes you miss a quality the one before had,but memories take a long time. I have been weeding thru photo's and get sad at my little girl companion doggie I used to have. But Pete has become more our little man as time goes on.
I have no words...just lots of hugs
Blessings to you on this day...a beautiful post and tribute to a memorable part of your family!
Have a wonderful Easter Sunday!

Peace and comfort to you both.
Linda, this brings tears to my eyes as I too have lost a beloved "Duncan" dachshund, and now I have Otis and Riley.
Your Abby was beautiful, and now you have wonderful Maise.
Hugs,
Donna
Yes, a beautiful post.
Thank you.
I'm boohooing now for Abby, Emma, you and me.... I know they are angels now hovering with us always. Ollie too is the opposite of Emma. He loves everyone and everything.. He gives kisses to all. Emma was reserved and didn't like most people or most dogs. She'd rather just sit with me and forget about everything else. I was all she needed. Ollie on the other hand loves everyone it seems like equally. Big hugs coming to you from someone who has "been there and done that" and still does it.... and always will...
I feel your pain Linda...I can't believe it has already been a year. Thanks for all of your support with Clancy.
I can't believe it has been a year already. Abby will always be in your heart. Thinking of you.
It's always so hard to lose a loved one, animal people included.
But she sent you a sweetie in return. Beautiful photo by the way.

Oh Linda,
What a beautiful post about Abby and a wonderful picture of the two of you. Abby's never far away from you, even if she isn't present physically.
I agree that Abby played a big part in your finding Maisie. She knew that Maisie would make your heart sing with her antics and definitely keep you on your toes.
Both Lytton and I are happy that we knew Abby and now Maisie through your posts and photographs.
Easter is also the anniversary of my BJ's passing two years ago. I hope Abby and my baby are friends now in the Rainbow Dog Park.
I do believe that they look over us after they are gone, and have a paw in finding their own replacements.
I sometimes envision them saying to the abandoned dog, "Hey, you there with the overbite, run up to this house, there is a vacancy there and she is a great mommy!"
