Finally making an appearance today..."Inner Circle #7"! When people see one of my abstracts they will sometimes ask..."well what is it?" I have to laugh because I don't know quite what the heck it is either so it's a hard question to answer!
I came across a couple of great quotes that really seem to express (at least to me) what an abstract is all about ...
"You like it, that's all, whether it's a landscape or abstract. You like it. It hits you. You don't have to read it. The work of art - sculpture or painting - forces your eye." ~Clement Greenberg, Art Critic
"I'm not an abstractionist. I'm not interested in the relationship of color or form or anything else. I'm interested only in expressing basic human emotions: tragedy, ecstasy, doom and so on."
~Mark Rothko, Artist
If YOU have a favorite Abstract Artist...do tell! I would love to know.

The quotes are correct. It's really about how the painting makes you feel. Your paintings make me happy. Great job...... as always!
Hi Linda!
I love your new abstract. The circle series is so inspired. Each one really grabs me!
My favorite abstract artist is Peter Kitchell.

Hey girlfriend! I love the green in this latest painting!
My favorite abstract artist is Helen Frankenthaler.

Inner Circle #7... another success! Answering the abstract question is a tough question. I think it's something you just connect with (or don't) on a gut level - be it the colors, the composition, or whatever. Beyond that, I really don't know. Hugs, Shari
I love abstract painting and yours are great. And I love Tallulah, so adorable.
Love these Inner Circle paintings, Linda! I think my favorite abstract artists are numerous, but I do love Barbara Hepworth, Giacometti, Kandinsky, Picasso and O'Keeffe. Those are among many, many others, of course!
Love your new work! I'm a sucker for Mondrian.
wHOA, love them both!!

I have always wanted to delve into abstract art and learn about it; your mini-intro was just what I needed. Very nice quotes :)
Love Rothko also!
