New Pepper Painting

"Pepper"
6" x 12" acrylic on canvas

I saw a bunch of these peppers in the store last week and just had to buy one. They almost looked alive...like little pepper people...so I had to bring one home to paint.

Hope you all had a nice weekend. It was good here...although a little warm for my taste (90 degrees) yesterday. I'm a Bay Area (San Francisco) girl at heart...so I love the fog and cooler weather. James and I are heading there this Friday to visit family and friends for a few days so I will hopefully get my foggy fix then!

Speaking of the Bay Area...you should check out this Artist, Inez Storer. She is one of my very favorites...I really love her work. I think this is a fairly new website for Inez and I just read in her Bio that she received her B.A. degree at Dominican University which is where I received my B.F.A. How cool!

Have a good Monday everyone! xo

I love the peppers - you've brought them to life. They look as if they might just stand up and dance! The background colours are wonderful.

You were in my mind this morning when I took Lytton to the vet. He's having a wart taken off his head. He doesn't like having his head patted because of it.

Our vet is always happy to see L. and vice versa. Today I asked how the vet's chocolate lab was and his eyes filled with tears. His 8-yr.-old dog had succumbed to cancer in January.

We talked of how much our animals mean to us and how hard it is when we must say goodbye to them. I thanked him again for having taken the time to speak such reassuring words to my son last year when Hazel died.

So you and Abby were in my thoughts today.

Have a wonderful time in San Francisco!!

Honestly, I've never wanted to actually eat another artist's work until I met you!!

That bell pepper looks delicious. You are an amazing artist with a stunning eye for simplicity!!

In case I dont' hear from you before you leave, have a great trip.

I always think fruit and vegetables have personalities, especially pears...I am glad to hear that I am not alone in my bizarre thoughts. I can always count on you Linda! Have fun in San Fran, sounds wonderful!

I just had a moment to catch up on your blog and MY, you've been a busy girl! Your paintings never cease to amaze me - you capture the light hitting a fruit or vegetable like no one else I know! Your new Etsy shop is wonderful, too! Chock full of all your talented work. Hugs, Shari

Love your paintings, Linda. And thank you for the link to Inez's new site. She is my #1 favorite painter. I took a workshop from her in Montana a couple of years ago. She is just wonderful; so forthright and irreverent.

Hi Linda! I love how you said the peppers looked "like little pepper people" -- this cracked me up. And it's so cool how in touch you are with the spirit of the veggies/fruit and animals you paint. In this painting the colors and their shades are so beautiful -- so alive.
