Big News!

"Maisie Rose"

Well guess what...all my lovely blogger friends?! Yep...as of last night, James and I are the proud parents of a new one year old baby girl! We named her Maisie Rose O'Neill. She is a German Shepherd/Whippet mix (Hi Patience!).

We have missed our Abby Louise so very much...so a few weeks ago...decided we needed and wanted to open our hearts and our home again to another dog. We looked at several shelters around the Boulder/Denver area but hadn't found the right dog until this past Wednesday. To try and make a long story short...I saw a very sweet little dog named Jezebel on the Denver Dumb Friends League website. We went right down to meet with her. While we were standing in front of the kennel seeing Jezebel for the first time and having some concerns about her disposition...we looked behind us...and there was Maisie. We both had an immediate connection with her and when we finally met her...she stole our hearts. She's a lot like Abby in many ways but different in her own right. We really believe Abby brought Maisie to us because we have had a very strong sense of her surrounding us this week...especially when we were at the shelter.

We named our new little girl Maisie because it means "precious" and she is! She will need some patience and lots of love because she's a little timid and is afraid of loud noises. She doesn't like doorways either. She's already made a lot of progress in one day though. She's got a great spirit and is so very loving. We don't know her history other than she was a transport from a shelter in Taos, New Mexico.

The picture below is of our first walk up to the lake today. I think Abby was watching over us, smiling and feeling so happy that our hearts feel a little better today.

Welcome Miss Maisie Rose!

Hi Linda! Moose and I are jumping up and down and celebrating the arrival of Maisie Rose into your lives!!!!!!! I kept hoping you'd get another doggie but I totally know these things happen when the time is right. Yippee! She is so beautiful and has the most amazing eyes -- deeply soulful and smart. And I love her markings. She will settle in just fine. Moose wants to play with her, but in the meantime, we both send big hugs and best wishes! Oh, and have a wonderful weekend. You made my day today.

Oh Linda!

My heart jumped when I saw her! She is beautiful! I am so excited for you and James! I cannot wait to meet her when she is ready. I have presents for her to welcome her home. Emmitt can come later when Maisie Rose is ready to meet her new puggy friend. In the meantime, we can tell her stories about him, so she will, well, be prepared for his love and excitement.

Hi Linda--
So happy to see and hear of your family's new addition!! As the mom of 2 older, rescued pooches from petfinder.com and with mysterious, sordid histories, I know first-hand the incredible joy & love Maisie will provide...there's such an intense bond she will have with you b/c you were the one who gave her a second chance! When I think of our girl Scout and how we could have missed her if the stars were not aligned at that exact moment, it makes me cry...but then I cry tears of joy that she IS here, and how we were meant to know her and love her and give her a chance at a wonderful life.

All the best to all of you!!!
Jan

Congratulations, Linda!!! I am so happy for all of you. Pono says he used to be afraid of a lot of things, too, but love conquers all. (well, he might still be a little bit afraid of thunderstorms, but there are worse flaws.)

OMG she is darling so happy for you. We have been kinda keeping an eye out for a sister for our "peterpan" man. Met and fell inlove in one shelter then they said there was a list,DUH! They shouldn't show them unless they eliminate the first 4 waiting. How cruel that experience was.

And you can see her soul through her eyes. She is so lucky to have found you and James, and I am happy beyond words that you guys have a new canine companion. Now I can stop bugging you to look for one, lol!!
