On the last day of our visit...James and I went to see my Aunties, Carla and Lucille. Lucy will be 93 this year and Carla will be 91. They are sisters and have been my guardian angels for a very long time. Every time we see them these days, Carla likes to give each of us a book...one that she has treasured for years. This time, she wanted me to have "Degas Letters"...a beautiful little book of letters and illustrations by Edgar Degas.
Here are two illustrations from the book, the first one being a study for the painting below it. I think the study is actually a beautiful work of art on it's own. Degas had such a poetic and elegant way with a pencil and paper.
So now it's back to work...I've got two paintings going so hope to show you those very soon!

Hi Linda, just dropping by to check on you. I've been so lax at blogging. Work and other stuff has been getting in the way but all is well. That's so sweet, your auntie holding Maisie's picture. And Charles Henry is beautiful. Hugs..
Hi Linda....your aunts are so adorable...I love to see Seniors looking so content and happy...and holding the picture of Maisie, how cute is that...Sue
Hi Linda! Sounds like you had a nice trip. Your aunties are precious!I love her holding the pic of Maise (I bet Maise missed you!)I am heading up to SF next week. Such a wonderful city!
Wow! Your aunties are beautiful and obviously still sharp as tacks! You have great genes on your side. SF Area was rainy but it was clear and in the 70's today so hopefully that meant you were able to fly out in good weather. hugs.
Hi Linda,
Your two aunties are beautiful. I'm sure you had a great time despite the weather.
Love Degas paintings.
Hugs to you and Maisie,
Donna
Hi Linda:
Your Aunties are so sweet! I'm going to visit my 92 year old Aunt this weekend, and as always , I'll bring a pad of paper and plenty of questions. How lucky we are to still have them in our lives!
The 3 graces in all their warmth. Adorable picture..May you spend many more visits together :)
On another subject: Austin is sunny and bright. Forget the rain! Come here instead!!
Still wandering the planet (and the labyrinths of my mind)

I love your "poetic and elegant" description of Degas drawings. Your aunts sound like they're poetic and elegant, too.
Sounds like you had a great time over here in the Bay Area anyway - I'm glad you did. Looks like you have a couple of very wonderful aunts.
What a great post. I love the photo of you with your two aunties. I am so happy you got such a cool book, to boot! xoxo karine
I enjoyed reading this post and seeing the photo and you and your aunties. How special to get that great book!!! Yes, we have been having lots of rain out here and of course they tell us it hasn't helped the drought situation. I think we're expecting more starting Monday. My son lives up in the Bay area, and they were just down here for a family get together and now back home.
I had a very special great aunt who gave me art books which I still cherish. You are so right Degas is poetic.
Wonderful post Linda! Your aunts are so cute an what a lovely book you received!
Glad you had a wonderful time on your trip Linda, getting to visit family member. I've never been to San Francisco but would love to go someday.
Degas is one of my favorite artists.
