New Still Life

"Egg"
5.5" x 6.5" acrylic and collage on paper
available on Etsy here

This is my newest painting...a little bit of a departure color wise for me. I was reading an art show prospectus recently on Art Deadlines and the show called for a "white" theme...so I thought I would give it a try. It was not that easy...I'm so used to using bold, bright colors in my work. I felt like I was painting with my left hand! This was a good exercise though and I like the way it turned out.

And thanks to all of you who have sent such sweet, supportive comments and emails about our house offer. We are STILL waiting! There are some issues holding things up...and today our agent, Kathy told us we may be waiting the rest of the week. Oh great. Forget the wine...give me a martini!!!

I'd say a pitcher of martinis might do the trick a whole lot better! Those waits seem endless... I hope you have something wonderful to celebrate at the end of the week.

Your egg turned out beautifully ... your backgrounds are always a treat. The tiny bits of type are adorable. I like the way they seem to be floating through the air! Sending lots successful house and art show submissions to you along with hugs, kate ox

This is great. I love eggs as subject matter, and I've drawn them only once. It's one of my favorite drawings because it IS so difficult to do the white-on-white thing. I love the pinkish color you've got going on in the foreground!....and as for Mr. Fritz Scholder, I too was only recently introduced to him. His work is fantastic....My fingers are crossed for you and this house!

love this, it must be so challenging to make something so simple look so wonderful.

Hi Linda! Your egg is wonderful, and I love the metaphor of it too -- new beginnings. Your house will be a new beginning and it will hatch! The waiting is a big pain, though. Hang in there!! Can you hear me pouring you a nice big martini?
