Dog Drawings Redux!

I was going through some older computer files the other day and came across these mixed media dog drawings I did a few years ago. I don't do many of them now but every once in awhile... someone will ask me if I can create something a little less expensive than the cost of an acrylic on canvas dog painting. The answer is, you betcha! Since I recently did a couple of cat drawing commissions, I've gotten the bug to do some dog drawings again. A 5" x 7" drawing is $100.00 so if you're interested...give me a shout.

By the way...some fun news is that my painting of Miss Pandora, the Potbelly Piggy won the Patron's Choice Award over at EBSQ. The show's theme was Barnyard Animals. Pandora doesn't think she's a barnyard animal...but I entered her anyway!

Hope you enjoy these three drawings of some pretty sweet dogs!

Mixed Media Mutts

"Briar"
original is mixed media on paper
print now available in my Etsy Dog Shop

Hello on this hot Colorado Tuesday! I don't know if many of you remember the dog drawings that I used to do like these two? I used Caran d'Ache crayons, pen, pencil, paint and collage on watercolor paper. I still do them occasionally and really enjoy the process plus I tend to bring in my abstract work in the backgrounds a bit more.

These are two of my favorites that I did a few years back. I especially enjoyed working on Briar, the Service Dog for the Hearing Impaired...plus I've always loved Cattle Dogs!

Back soon with a portrait of a .....? Can you guess?

A New Cat in Town

"Brisbane"
5" x 7" pencil, crayon and collage on bfk paper

Maisie doesn't like me to draw cats very often...but this was an exception. A friend commissioned me to draw Brisbane...a wonderful girl who is no longer with us. Her mom, Patricia misses her very much so it was an honor for me to create this portrait for her. I love the color of her eyes! I used to do these mixed media drawings quite often and still really enjoy doing one now and then.

And hey...there's an Artist out there I just met this week that you should know about. Her drawings of animals are really exquisite. Her name is Leslie Moore from PenPets.com Leslie grew up in the Bay Area but has lived in New England for the past 25 years. Nice to know you, Leslie...you do beautiful work!
